Video Projects

Each year, the Pennsylvania State University hosts “THON”, a forty-eight hour dance marathon to raise money for children with cancer. This organization, which prides itself as the largest student-run philanthropy in the country, hosted the event as a live-stream last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. My role was to help produce videos and interviews with members of THON during the stream.

Despite the restrictions, I was able to complete several packages for the organization from my room while quarantining. Because of my participation, I was able to go the live portions of the event, where I operated studio cameras, edited more packages, technical directed musical performances.

While working with WITF, I was fortunate enough to travel across Pennsylvania and New Jersey interviewing local artists, organizers, experts and fans. My official role of Production Assistant allowed me to fill many parts of the process like operating camera, lights, audio, and working through pre- and post-production. Below are other projects I worked on during my time with WITF.

During my time at Harrisburg’s Midtown Cinema, I helped to create several promotional videos about upcoming films, new policies, or community events. As a member of the production team, I came up with ideas for ads, and helped to shoot and edit video.

I also worked as a clerk for this independent arthouse cinema for three years, I helped with developing the programs, and other promotional material (typically using Adobe programs like Photoshop, InDesign, and Premiere).

The Centre County Report is a weekly news show broadcasted all over central Pennsylvania. In my first year with the program, I fulfilled the role of Director and Technical Director during the thirty-minute show. Below, you can see two of my director reels where I direct the control room and anchors as they read the news.

In my following year, I was brought back as an Executive Director. This position allowed me to instruct broadcast journalism students on how to record, edit, and upload video for our program and the web. I’d teach students how to run the equipment in the control room. The video to the left is an example of a program I oversaw as Executive Director and Field Producer for our live shot.
